What is Fraternity and Sorority Life?

With about 200 members, Fraternities and sororities together constitute one of BSU's largest communities on campus!

Fraternities and Sororities are social groups that have a strong emphasis on social connections, leadership, academics, service and philanthropy. All of our Fraternities and Sororities at BSU are National/International groups meaning that there are chapters all across the U.S and even in some other countries. Each chapter is overseen by their National Headquarters and are student organizations at BSU. Each organization has shared traditions, philanthropy and service initiatives

Scholarship

Our FSL community recognizes that members of our community are students first.  Many of our chapters have study hours for members and highlight academic achievement throughout the semester in various ways.  Additionally, every year the FSL Office hosts a community wide, FSL Awards banquet to highlight accomplishments of chapters and individuals.

Service

Service and Philanthropy are very important to the FSL community here at BSU. Each of our chapters/councils have unique service and philanthropy initiatives that they plan events to raise money for and participate in service projects for every semester.  Many times our chapters also work together to plan philanthropy/service events and will go and support other chapters events!

Leadership

There is an abundant amount of leadership opportunities within the FSL community.  Members have the opportunity to serve in leadership roles within their individual chapters but also within our specific councils as well.  Members can also be nominated to participate in our Greek Leadership and Development program along with attend the Northeast Greek Leadership Conference.

Friendship

Within the FSL community there are many opportunities to create friendship amongst each other! Our chapters hold sisterhood/ brotherhood events throughout the semester that members can attend.  Additionally, our councils plan events to promote relationship building within the community.  As all of our chapters are nationally/internationally recognized, members have the opportunity to network with alumni/members from other chapters as well.
