Mission
WBIM is Bridgewater State University's radio station. Our goal is to expose the university and surrounding community to a wide variety of musical genres while providing skills and experience to our all-student DJ staff. The staff at WBIM work together to create a series of regularly-scheduled programs each week, wherein each DJ is encouraged to explore new styles and add their own personality to their shows. Additionally, WBIM members have the opportunity to provide sound technician services for various BSU departments and student organizations at on-campus events.

Active Minds at Bridgewater State University is a student-run organization that promotes mental health awareness. We are determined to spread information about mental health, all while changing the negative stigma surrounding mental illness. It is a place where people can come and share their stories and realize that they are not alone in their struggles. Active Minds will host events throughout the year to raise money for a variety of organizations that support mental health awareness, mental illnesses, and support groups for mental health.

There are an endless number of benefits for students who are involved in Active Minds. Students will become educated on different types of mental illness and how to support those who struggle with mental health through events, social media, and letters to members. There will also be volunteer opportunities for students, as well as ways to get involved in the mental health community which could lead to job opportunity.

The African American Society exists to celebrate, empower, and uplift students of African American descent by fostering a vibrant community rooted in cultural pride, shared experiences, and collective growth. American Cancer Society On Campus is a nationwide collaboration of college students, faculty and staff dedicated to eliminating cancer by working to implement and programs and mission of the American Cancer Society. Bridgewater State University's chapter of ACS On Campus teams up with the American Cancer Society to help raise money and awareness for ACS as well as plan the annual Relay For Life Event that is held every Spring semester in the Adrian Tinsley Center.

The main goals of the Asian Student Union are to provide the community with opportunities to explore and celebrate different Asian cultures as well as to welcome Asian culture to the Bridgewater/BSU public. In addition to this, we work outside of the Asian community to bring other cultures and traditions to the school, with the hopes of teaching new people about Asian culture and learning about the world from others ourselves.

We are happy to accept any and all members, whether you know a lot about different Asian countries! Everyone has something special to contribute to our club. We work with numerous other clubs under the LGCIE umbrella, so expect some joint events! We enjoy expanding our network to provide faculty, staff, and students with more entertainment and knowledge about Asian cultures.

We are a student led group committed to community service, both on and off campus. Founded to help run the on-campus Food Pantry, we have remained committed to fundraising, collecting food donations, maintaining the Food Pantry, and applying our creativity toward enhancing and expanding the Food Pantry to feed the overlooked and food insecure population of our peers. Over the years, we have also began to expand into other areas of social justice, including homelessness awareness, and also expanding our reach to outside of the BSU community. Bipartisan Disagreement is about pushing each of us to admit that because we are all fallible, there is value in learning about each other in good faith. Bipartisan Disagreement was founded in 2020 at Northeastern University out of frustration with the state of public discourse. It seemed that any conversation between politically diverse peers was liable to collapse under the weight of polarization. Today, this same issue remains. That is why Bipartisan Disagreement aims to promote respect, tolerance, and understanding in everyday discussions about the world and our roles as global citizens.

Whether it's debating American involvement in the Ukraine war or if pineapple belongs on pizza, we want to create a space where students can listen and learn from one another. With differences becoming increasingly divisive, our school could benefit by helping students communicate productively with their peers about their experiences, instead of dismissing them through the lens of a partisan narrative. These person-to-person interactions are essential to Bipartisan Disagreement, and educational institutions like ours can offer a unique opportunity to promote those relationships and to reintroduce ideals of civic virtue to our country’s future leaders. In the process, we can bridge the partisan divide and hopefully improve education, respect, and tolerance amongst the general population over time.

This is why we would really like to bring the message of Bipartisan Disagreement to BSU and beyond.

The Bridgewater Collegiate Investors have three core purposes: knowledge, real-world experience, and networking with fellow students and finance professionals. It was created for Bridgewater State Students with a passion for finance and investing to master concepts such as economics, security analysis, and portfolio management. The group will meet weekly to discuss various topics such as market and sector trends, investment opportunities, and global financial news.

Group members will be a wealth of knowledge by adding value to each meeting with one of the following: technical investment strategy, a term of the day or excerpt from educational literature. Members of the Bridgewater Collegiate Investors will also be given the opportunity to participate in events such as guest speakers and trips to financial institutions with the purpose of gaining real-world exposure as well as networking opportunities. Members of the Bridgewater Collegiate Investors must be highly motivated, willing to learn and have a passion for the world of finance. The group of students will work together to maintain several stock portfolios on simulated real-time markets on Investopedia.com. This will be the primary focus of the organization, all students will work together and collaboratively develop investment strategies and exploit market opportunities. The group is encouraged to work closely together in the decision making process.

What drives the group to success is pushing one another to go the extra step and complete stock analysis before securing a market position. Students must be critical of one another to ensure professionalism is optimized. Students are also encouraged to maintain their own stock portfolios and share with the group different techniques they used and what result it has produced.

BSU Chess Club is about learning and practicing the game of chess. You do not have to have previous experience or any US/FIDE rate to become a member. Our goal is to support the passion for the game and involve everybody interested. The club has the potential to participate in various chess tournaments off campus at different levels and host tournaments on campus.
