Important: Changes to Multi-Factor Authentication
Microsoft is ending support for SMS text message authentication.
What's changing?
Microsoft is ending support for SMS (text message) as a method for multi-factor authentication (MFA).
MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring you to verify your identity when signing in. If you currently use text messages to verify your identity when accessing BSU resources, such as Blackboard and your BSU email, you will need to switch to another authentication method.
What do you need to do?
If you currently use SMS for MFA, you will need to update your authentication method to continue securely accessing BSU resources.
1. Microsoft Authenticator App
The Microsoft Authenticator app is the recommended replacement for SMS authentication. It allows you to verify your identity when signing in to BSU resources.
2. Synced Passkeys
Synced passkeys are another recommended authentication option that can help you securely verify your identity when accessing your BSU account.
Ready to update your sign-in method?
BSU Information Technology has provided step-by-step instructions to help you transition from SMS authentication to Microsoft Authenticator and set up a passkey.

Will you be affected?
If you are impacted by this change, you will receive a separate message with instructions and next steps.
