Mission
WBIM is Bridgewater State University's radio station. Our goal is to expose the university and surrounding community to a wide variety of musical genres while providing skills and experience to our all-student DJ staff. The staff at WBIM work together to create a series of regularly-scheduled programs each week, wherein each DJ is encouraged to explore new styles and add their own personality to their shows. Additionally, WBIM members have the opportunity to provide sound technician services for various BSU departments and student organizations at on-campus events.

The Accounting and Finance Club is a student-run academic club open to all Bridgewater State University Students interested in accounting and finance. Our club functions in the hopes of helping fellow students gain knowledge about future careers and learning from upperclassmen and former BSU graduate's accounting experiences. Club members meet on a bi-weekly basis to discuss a variety of topics. Topics include where students’ progress towards obtaining internships and jobs are, a reflection of their past experiences, and getting students prepared for job fairs, specifically aiming their resumes for accounting companies.

The club works on a ladder basis, consequently lending a hand to the next student when you have reached the accounting position you have worked for throughout college. Many of our former BSU club members have advised their company to reach out and look for BSU accounting and finance students.

Active Minds at Bridgewater State University is a student run group that promotes mental health awareness. Active Minds works to spread information about mental health along with changing the negative stigma surrounding mental illness'. American Cancer Society On Campus is a nationwide collaboration of college students, faculty and staff dedicated to eliminating cancer by working to implement and programs and mission of the American Cancer Society. Bridgewater State University's chapter of ACS On Campus teams up with the American Cancer Society to help raise money and awareness for ACS as well as plan the annual Relay For Life Event that is held every Spring semester in the Adrian Tinsley Center.

The main goals of the Asian Student Union are to provide the community with opportunities to explore and celebrate different Asian cultures as well as to welcome Asian culture to the Bridgewater/BSU public. In addition to this, we work outside of the Asian community to bring other cultures and traditions to the school, with the hopes of teaching new people about Asian culture and learning about the world from others ourselves.

We are happy to accept any and all members, whether you know a lot about different Asian countries! Everyone has something special to contribute to our club. We work with numerous other clubs under the LGCIE umbrella, so expect some joint events! We enjoy expanding our network to provide faculty, staff, and students with more entertainment and knowledge about Asian cultures.

We are a student led group committed to community service, both on and off campus. Founded to help run the on-campus Food Pantry, we have remained committed to fundraising, collecting food donations, maintaining the Food Pantry, and applying our creativity toward enhancing and expanding the Food Pantry to feed the overlooked and food insecure population of our peers. Over the years, we have also began to expand into other areas of social justice, including homelessness awareness, and also expanding our reach to outside of the BSU community. The Bridgewater Collegiate Investors have three core purposes: knowledge, real-world experience, and networking with fellow students and finance professionals. It was created for Bridgewater State Students with a passion for finance and investing to master concepts such as economics, security analysis, and portfolio management. The group will meet weekly to discuss various topics such as market and sector trends, investment opportunities, and global financial news.

Group members will be a wealth of knowledge by adding value to each meeting with one of the following: technical investment strategy, a term of the day or excerpt from educational literature. Members of the Bridgewater Collegiate Investors will also be given the opportunity to participate in events such as guest speakers and trips to financial institutions with the purpose of gaining real-world exposure as well as networking opportunities. Members of the Bridgewater Collegiate Investors must be highly motivated, willing to learn and have a passion for the world of finance. The group of students will work together to maintain several stock portfolios on simulated real-time markets on Investopedia.com. This will be the primary focus of the organization, all students will work together and collaboratively develop investment strategies and exploit market opportunities. The group is encouraged to work closely together in the decision making process.

What drives the group to success is pushing one another to go the extra step and complete stock analysis before securing a market position. Students must be critical of one another to ensure professionalism is optimized. Students are also encouraged to maintain their own stock portfolios and share with the group different techniques they used and what result it has produced.

SEAM is open to all students in any education field at BSU. We host events both on campus and state wide. We have been extremely successful in sponsoring workshops, professional development seminars, mentoring programs, and providing students an opportunity to connect with other BSU students interested in teaching. Our events provide great RESUME BOOSTERS for your professional teaching portfolio and resume. Meetings and events are held for SEAM members to connect, learn, and have fun!

ALSO as of February 2021, SEAM has a subcommittee called the Student Educator Committee on Diversity and Inclusion Practices! SEAM covers many topics in education. We as a committee are 100% dedicated to just the Racial and Social Justice component of education focusing on diversity, inclusion, anti-bias, anti-racist practices.

SEAM carries on as usual on Wednesdays at 5pm and the committee has separate meetings Thursdays at 5pm. What does the committee do? Community Building: Introductions, team building activities and group challenges. Diversity/Inclusion Trainings: Self reflection, Professional Development and anti-bias, anti-racist trainings. Classroom Preparation: Participation in activities, discussions and lesson composition, all of which serve as a building block for what we will bring to our own classrooms in the future. Community Outreach: Attending diversity events offered at BSU and educating campus/peers about what we learn and how we can all unite to create a safe and inclusive community.

Dance Company is the largest dance organization on the BSU campus, offering both class credit and recreational performance opportunities. In the fall semester we take part in "WinterDance," an annual faculty taught and student choreographed show premiering in December. Dancers receive one class credit for their participation in "WinterDance." In the Spring semester we produce "Pops!". "Pops!" allows dancers with various backgrounds and experience levels to perform in student choreographed pieces. Auditions are held on a first-come-first-serve basis until the cap of the show is met. "Pops!" premieres in April.

The Interfraternity Council, known as IFC, is comprised of five international men's fraternities and one Co-educational fraternity. The IFC Executive Board consists of six officers representative of the general population. The recruitment process for all male and co-ed fraternities is organized by the IFC. The IFC also programs activities and philanthropic events for all of the fraternities. The IFC is the governing board of all member fraternities. It is driven by its constitution and by-laws and has the best interests of its fraternal and collegiate communities.

The National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and promotion of high-quality education in the art of dance. NDEO provides the dance artist, educator, and administrator a network of resources and support, a base for advocacy, and access to programs that focus on the importance of dance in the human experience. Student Chapters (NSO) are local associations of college-aged students that align their mission and activities with NDEO’s mission to advance dance education centered in the arts. NSOs are comprised of students interested in dance and dance education at degree-awarding institutions or professional dance education programs that are Institutional Members of NDEO to provide opportunities for students aspiring to create a career in dance or dance education. It provides research opportunities, the ability to go to the national conference, and to build leadership within each student.

Phi Kappa Theta is a national social fraternity founded on the ideals we believe shape college-aged male-presenting students into well-rounded gentlemen and model citizens.

Across all 41 Chapters of Phi Kappa Theta across the nation, “Phi Kaps”, as they are referred to colloquially, are known for being the next generation of servant leaders and have been at the forefront of social justice and equitable accountability within the Greek Community and every collegiate community that Phi Kaps call home. Our MA Zeta Chapter at Bridgewater State University is no exception.

Phi Kappa Theta is currently the only fraternity in the American Fraternal system that is considered a true “merger” of two separate Greek organizations. This is due to the nature of a Phi Kap being so strongly based on social equity. Nationally, Phi Kappa Theta was established on April 29, 1959, with the merger of Phi Kappa and Theta Kappa Phi. Both organizations were founded by a group of students at Brown and Lehigh University (respectively) who were refused entrance to other fraternities because of their faith. Similarly, the MA Zeta Chapter of Phi Kappa Theta was founded on the Bridgewater State Campus in 2011 when a brother was rejected by a prominent Greek Organization for being Transgender. Although rich in Catholic history, Phi Kappa Theta is open for membership regardless of one's faith.

Phi Kappa Theta works relentlessly to foster the development of one's intrapersonal relationship to the values and ideals we uphold as an organization for each brother. With a history of an overwhelming portion of male-presenting student leaders on the Bridgewater State University Campus hailing from Phi Kappa Theta. Those who reflect our values and regularly interact with "Phi Kaps" can attest to the impact each brother has made within the community during their undergraduate program.

The Massachusetts Zeta Chapter of Phi Kappa Theta constantly emphasizes the importance of reflection and self-evaluation, developing deliberate programming that intentionally factors in one's plans for long-term growth, and promoting healthy communication and relationship building within the brotherhood it serves. Bettering the organization one member at a time.

The key to our success is achieved through two critical aspects. The Epsilon Iota chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma was established at Bridgewater State College in 1989. The sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma strongly believe in fostering the ideal of womanhood through sisterhood, scholarship, and service. As an international organization, we believe in high scholastic achievement as well as philanthropic work. Not only do our sisters become leaders in our organization, but they become leaders in their community and professions as well. For all these reasons, our open motto is “Aim High,” pushing all our sisters to strive to their best achievement. As a sisterhood, philanthropy is very important to us. Every year, Phi Sigma Sigma raises money for our national philanthropy, The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation, which in turn supports the Kids in Need Foundation. Here at BSU, we raise money annually for The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation through hosting a "School Readiness" week in the fall and our Phi Sig Feud event in the spring. Also, for over ten years our sisters have been volunteering their Saturday mornings to assist with the Children’s Physical Development Clinic (CPDC) on campus. During the fall, we raise money and travel into Boston to participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, and in the spring we, along with many of the other Greek organizations, participate in Relay For Life on campus. We are also proud to host Walk A Mile in Her Shoes each spring, an international march to bring awareness to end rape, sexual assault and gender violence which was brought to campus by one of our own sisters a few years ago. Finally, as a chapter, we find it important to support the organizations closest to our sisters, so our philanthropy chair makes every effort to incorporate other opportunities for community service that our sisters bring forth. In addition to philanthropies, we also keep the bond of our sisterhood strong by organizing various social events throughout the school year. Each year we get together for events such as an Alumnae Breakfast, a semi formal Crush Party, and our Sapphire Ball. These events help sisters to continue their strong bond during their college experience as well as after graduation. Our saying always holds true: “Once a Phi Sigma Sigma…Always a Phi Sigma Sigma!"

PRSSA implements and does promotional & public relations work for campus, regional, and national clients. All campaigns and clients that we accept we are able to put on our resumes and part of our portfolios! REFINED MOVEMENT DANCE TEAM (RMDT) Refined Movement Dance Team (RMDT) is a SGA funded dance group at Bridgewater State University. We are a diverse student choreographed group best known for our inclusivity of all genres of dance and our mixed experience leveled dancers. We perform jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, and many more dance genres. We aim to entertain students with a variety of styles, along with encouraging them to open their minds to the many different forms of dance! We take pride in helping the community, through picking a charity of our choice each semester, and donating partial proceeds from our events and fundraisers. Refined Movements also participates in a multitude of events on campus, which consist of Homecoming, Relay for Life and our own event that we host each semester. The Sigma Chi Fraternity (ΣΧ) is one of the oldest and largest all-male, college, Greek-letter social fraternities and secret society. The vision of the fraternity is "to become the preeminent collegiate leadership development organization—aligned, focused and living our core values." As of summer 2020, Sigma Chi has 244 active undergraduate chapters and 130 alumni chapters at colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada and since it's founding on June 28th, 1855 at Miami University (Ohio), Sigma Chi has initiated more than 300,000 men. With such a strong alumni and undergraduate base, the networking possibilities are endless. Sigma Chi brothers have careers ranging from famous actors, athletes, Chief executive officers (CEO) of major corporations, and Professors at elite colleges. Notable Sigma Chi alumni include John Wayne, Brad Pitt, Drew Brees, Ben Savage, Carson Daily, David Letterman, Tom Sellick, Luke Bryan, and many many more.

The Bridgewater State University Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity International was established in order to promote the common beliefs, interests, and goals of its members. The Student Government Association of Bridgewater State University was founded in order to fulfill the following purposes:
• To provide the means whereby the members of the Student Body may express themselves effectively in the programs of the University, which directly affect their intellectual, social, economic, physical, and spiritual welfare.
• To promote better citizenship by developing and promoting student responsibility and by providing practice in democratic living.

This club serves to bring together a community of women (and their allies) who aim to uplift each other while developing confidence and literacy within the STEM disciplines, through outreach to the community, advocacy for equality, and mentorship. Women in STEM aims to create access and opportunities, with experiences such as presentations by leading women from various STEM institutions and industries, organized workshops for graduate/professional school preparation, résumé building and interview preparation, lunch meetings with female faculty from BSU, outreach to the community through STEM workshops for Girl Scouts and students in public schools at all ages, advocacy for equality within academia and the workplace, mentorship matching programs, confidence-building strategies, as well as bringing awareness and open conversation to other important intersectional issues that the STEM community faces.
