Mission The BSU Pre-Health Club aims to prepare and provide students interested in pursuing a career in medicine at BSU with a network of social and educational support along with research, shadowing, and volunteer experience within the medical field. The club will expose students to important topics and events in the healthcare field through interaction with healthcare professionals, various seminars with guest panel speakers, and a source of leadership for students seeking a career in medicine. The club will also aim to organize visits to local medical schools and provide discounted MCAT preparation courses, mentorship and opportunities to engage in various volunteer programs with affiliate programs.
Membership BenefitsMembership in the Pre-Health Club offers students a wealth of opportunities to develop essential skills and prepare for their future careers in healthcare. Members gain hands-on experience through workshops covering fundamental techniques such as suturing, proper surgical scrubbing, and effective handwashing protocols. The club also provides access to CPR certification courses, equipping students with life-saving skills that are valuable in both clinical and emergency settings. To support professional development, the club hosts resume and personal statement workshops, as well as mock interviews, helping members refine their application materials and build confidence for future academic and job opportunities. Guest speakers, including healthcare professionals and admissions representatives, share insights into various career paths and provide guidance on navigating the application process. Additionally, members benefit from resources on volunteer and internship opportunities, allowing them to gain real-world experience and strengthen their applications. The club also offers information on prerequisite coursework and class requirements for medical, veterinary, and other health-related professional schools, ensuring that students stay on track with their academic goals. Those interested in research can learn about opportunities to join research labs, enhancing their understanding of scientific inquiry and critical thinking. Through these offerings, the Pre-Health Club serves as a comprehensive support system for students aspiring to enter the healthcare field.
