 Events
Hello all!

I hope you all had a sweet and spooky halloweekend!

We have about 6 weeks left of the semester and it is jam-packed with exciting events. Here is an itinerary for the next few weeks with important details about each date:

Jurassic Park Hold Onto Your Butts GIFs | Tenor

Tuesday, November 4th = Our next club meeting
This will be led by our officer Kevin, in our usual club room, DMF 171 from 5pm to 6pm

Wednesday, November 5th = Open Lab Night, led by the Center for the Advancement of Science Education
This event is open to the public, grades K-12. Each department in DMF hosts activities to teach kids about science concepts in our respective fields. The Geology Department will be hosting three activities this year: Rainbow Detectives in DMF 180, Tracing Fossils in DMF 176, and Play-Doh Core Sampling in DMF 174. I would encourge you to check it out, especially if you have young kids/siblings in your family! The whole event runs from 5pm to 8pm. It is a lot of fun and if you are interested, CASE is always looking for volunteers.

Friday, November 7th = Breaking Geodes with Facilities and the Pride Center
This is my personal favorite event of each semester! But I am biased, as this event is my baby <3. As a peer liaison with the Pride Center, I run an event open to all BSU students, faculty, and staff. It will be hosted from 12:30pm to 3:30pm in University Park, rain or shine (barring a hurricane, of course). The Pride Center provides free geodes, rock candy, and goody bags and the Division of Operations provides the tools and the manpower. If you help me WORK the event, you can help me break open geodes for the participating students. If you decide to ATTEND the event, you may not open the geodes yourself for liability reasons, but you may break your geodes at home.

Tuesday, November 18th =  Club meeting in DMF 171 from 5pm to 6pm *with a special suprise*
I will keep the surpise intact ... but I can say that we are preparing for something fun. ;)

Thursday, November 27th through Sunday, November 30th = THANKSGIVING BREAK

Tuesday, December 2nd = no club meeting ... we will be having a fundraiser in RSU from 3:30pm to 6pm!
ITS FINALLY HAPPENING! We are hosting a rummage sale to raise money for future club activities! Since the club officers will be in RSU hosting the sale, we will not have a typical club meeting. Over the summer, while helping out the BSU faculty, I found a ton of treasures that Dr. Krol has given me permission to sell. These treasures include a multitude of rocks, shells, and fossils! PLEASE TELL EVERYBODY! Especially if you or someone you know, is a rock-hound, a fossil-collector, a lover of strange things, looking for a last-minute gift, looking for something to go on their pagan altar ... the list goes on.

Thursday, December 11th = Reading Day Holiday Party
Pizza and fun with your classmates before the chaos of finals ... what else can I say? I will confirm a time once I get a better idea of when everybody wants to meet. In all likelihood, it will be from 11am to 1pm.

I know. That was a lot.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, inquiries, or general comments!

Best wishes,
