Hello all!
I want to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who attended our Show and Tell ... there was awesome engagement and everyone had amazing specimens to show off!
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 8th from 5pm to 6pm. It will NOT be in the Geo Lounge this time (please ignore what Engage says). We've had such good attendence that we needed to move rooms! We will be hosting our meeting in the Sedimentary Geology room. This is just down the hall from our lounge and we can direct you if you are unsure of where the room is. We will take attendence and cover business at the start of our meeting and then the fun will begin ...
This meeting will be a geoscience-themed Kahoot! Be prepared to bring your knowledge on anything geology ... there will be prizes ;)
Other upcoming events include: Breaking Geodes in University Park on Friday, October 18th from 11:30am to 3:30pm and Open Lab Night in DMF on Wednesday, November 13th (time TBD).
Another announcement is that Pride in STEM will NOT run this year. This is an event that I personally run and it pains me that this event can't happen this year; I had too many student-led groups drop out and/or not respond to my communications. Instead, I ask that we use our social media accounts to create a post honoring International LGBTQIA+ Scientists Day on November 18th.
And as a reminder ... please keep our space clean, accepting, and respectful. And any questions, comments, or concerns you may have, you are always welcome to email myself or another officer.
With sincerity and warm wishes,
Lily Traver
