Undergraduate Research

Is your student thinking about what they’re going to do after graduation? The nationally awarded Undergraduate Research & Creative Scholarship program at BSU can help them make it happen. We provide students with funding and opportunities to delve into topics they are interested in under the mentorship of a professor in their field. Undergraduate research inspires students to discover their future careers.

We offer:
  • Funding for research supplies and expenses Research Internships that are paid positions for students assisting professors with research
  • Research Internships that are paid positions for students assisting professors with research
  • Our signature summer paid-research opportunity, the Adrian Tinsley Program (ATP) in which students conduct full- or part-time research or creative work over the summer under the mentorship of a professor. Your student will receive a stipend of $5,000 (for a full-time project) or $2,500 (for a part-time project) as well as funding for supplies.
  • Presentation opportunities on campus at the end of each semester (December and April)
  • Conference travel funding for students to present their research or creative work at regional and national conferences

Has your student ever wanted to travel to present their research at a professional conference?
Conference Travel Grants cover the costs of your student’s travel to present their research at a regional or national conference. The grant pays for travel expenses, hotel, and registration fees for students whose work is accepted for presentation.
  • Regional conference grants – up to $500 to present at a conference within driving distance of the university. May include hotel, travel expenses, and conference registration.
  • National conference grants – up to $1,500 to present at a conference requiring airfare.
Your student can also submit written work to be published in our research journal, the Undergraduate Review.
