Academic Experience Overview

Core Curriculum

The Core Curriculum is a set of foundational courses which will allow your student to explore their academic interests and develop the skills that are essential to support life-long learning.

In addition to developing their academic skills, the courses that your student will take for the Core Curriculum introduces them to the foundational concepts of the widely accepted approaches to learning and to the content needed to be successful as a college student.

All BSU courses are listed in the Course Catalog.

Class Formats

Students have a wide array of choices when it comes to how they can take classes, including:
  • fully face-to-face classes
  • hybrid classes (involving a mixture of in-person and online elements)
  • fully online classes (both synchronous and asynchronous)

SYNCHRONOUS - For synchronous online classes, students are expected to meet virtually with their class and professor at the regularly scheduled days/times listed on the course schedule. These meetings will be held on platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Goggle classroom as determined by the instructor.

ASYNCHRONOUS -  For asynchronous online classes, students are not expected to meet with the class or the professor at any specific times during the week, rather students must create their own schedule for engaging with course content and completing assignments.
